Compostela Ranch is a 16-acre, northern New Mexico apiary that raises honeybees with the goal of propagating our precious pollinators.  I operate the ranch as an ecological sanctuary, advocating experimentation, research, and study of honeybees for their protection.

I named the ranch "Compostela" in honor of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.  Northern New Mexico reminds me so much of the diverse regions in Spain.  My intention is to celebrate that sentiment and connection.  For me personally, this sacred combination of forest and meadow is my ultimate destination and source of joy.  "Compostela" also translates to "field of stars"--which is completely appropriate, as the ranch's meadow is often brightly illuminated with stars in the absence of light pollution during nightfall.
